SBK (“we”) is a personal-safety app. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we share it, how long we keep it, and your rights. SBK is built to minimize data: we collect location only when you activate an alert, and your trusted “Circle” sees your information only during an active alert.
Your trigger phrases are processed on your device; we store only a non-audio reference, not recordings, on our servers. We do not collect background location before you activate an alert.
Purpose limitation. We collect only what SBK’s native safety purpose requires, and we use it only for that purpose: to help your Circle, your verified emergency contacts, and — where lawfully requested — authorities locate and assist you or a linked minor. We do not use your information for any unrelated purpose.
Where applicable we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Service you request); consent (location sharing, processing a minor’s data via guardian consent, push notifications), which you may withdraw; legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention); and legal obligation.
Location is collected and shared only during an active alert and stops when the alert is resolved or cancelled. During an alert, your active Circle members and (if escalation passes) your designated emergency contact may receive your location. You can control system location permissions at any time in your device settings, though disabling them limits SBK’s core function.
Responder location (optional). If you are in someone’s Circle and choose to respond to their active alert, you may opt in to share your own device’s precise location with the person who triggered that alert only — not with other Circle members. This sharing is optional, lasts only for the duration of that active alert, and stops automatically when the alert ends or when you turn it off. It exists solely to help the person in distress see that help is on the way. These location points are retained no longer than 30 days and then deleted.
SBK Version 1 is available only to users aged 13 and older. Age verification is a mandatory legal requirement, not an option, and is completed before any consent interaction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; accounts reporting an age under 13 are blocked and are not created. Collection of personal information from children under 13 with verifiable parental consent under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is not offered in Version 1 and is reserved for a future release.
Users aged 13–17 (“minors”) may use SBK only with the verifiable consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who establishes a guardian link and accepts our Terms and this Policy on the minor’s behalf and on their own. A parent or guardian who links a minor may review, correct, or delete the minor’s information and withdraw consent (which disables the minor’s account features) by contacting info@noratec.org. We collect from minors only what is necessary for the safety function.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or share minors’ personal information. It is the intention of developer Noratec LLC, and its assigns, agents, and successors-in-interest, to implement permanent blocking of the collection, sale, and sharing of minors’ personal data, and usage of our services constitutes an irrevocable acceptance of that protection without opposition or challenge at all times.
Location and movement data generated during an alert are retained for no longer than 30 days and are then purged, except where a longer period is required to comply with law or a lawful request.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact info@noratec.org and we will delete it.
Emergency contacts must be verified before they can receive a minor’s information, and their details are retained in the record for the specific minor they support. During an active alert, and where lawfully requested by police or emergency authorities to assist in locating a minor or user, we may share the information available in our systems for that purpose. We share data only to further SBK’s stated safety purpose.
We keep account and Circle data while your account is active. Ended alerts (resolved or cancelled) and their location/breadcrumb history are automatically purged after 30 days. Consent records are retained as needed for legal/audit purposes. You may request deletion (see Your Rights).
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, row-level access controls, server-side enforcement of permissions, and least-privilege keys. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your data, to withdraw consent, and to object. California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have rights to know, delete, correct, and limit, and to non-discrimination for exercising them. EU/UK residents have GDPR rights including lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, contact info@noratec.org; we will verify and respond within the time required by law.
You can request account and data deletion in-app (Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting info@noratec.org. Deletion removes your profile, Circle, alerts, and associated location history, subject to limited legal retention.
If we transfer data outside your region (e.g., to U.S.-based providers), we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
We will post changes here and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email.
